11/11 BP Wins for Melrose – Hawick get their first win – Jed win derby at Selkirk



It was another successful day at the office for Melrose who landed their 11th try bonus win in a row in the BT Premiership against Boroughmuir at Meggetland by 42 points to 33. Bruce Colvine, Gavin Wood, Craig Jackson, Jason Baggott, Patrick Anderson and George Taylor scored the Black & Yellows’ six tries.  Picture: Douglas Hardie.

At the other end of the table Hawick finally managed a win in the league. Their comprehensive 36-17 win over Stirling County gave them all five points. Matt Carryer, Keith Davies, Gary Munro and Dom Buckley (with a brace) went over for the five tries for the Greens.

In the local derby in National 1 Jedforest beat Selkirk on the road by 24 points to 15, securing a try bonus when Sean Goodfellow added to his earlier touchdown and scores from Paulo Ferreira and Monty Mitchell.  Selkirk’s try scorers were Josh Welsh and Peter Forrest. Elsewhere Gala let a 12 point lead slip at home to Musselburgh, going down 41-29 at Netherdale, while Kelso eventually won a ding-dong battle against Stewart’s Melville 35-30, with the lead changing hands several times. In Division 2 Peebles got the better of Preston Lodge 44-7 while in the third division St Boswells won at Ardrossan by 26 points to 23.

In the East Leagues there were wins for Hawick Harlequins (65-0 v Broughton) and Duns (12-3 at Linlithgow) while in Division 2 Earlston, Langholm and Hawick Linden took victories , with Linden crushing Liberton 116-0.
