Bruce McNeil to lead The Greens again next season

Hawick’s captain from last season, Bruce McNeil (pictured), has been given the captain’s arm band to take them through the 2017-18 campaign, with Lee Armstrong his deputy. The two stalwarts, along with new Head Coach, Darren Cunningham, are confident that the squad, featuring a lot of new blood including youngsters stepping up from semi junior rugby, can deliver the goods on the pitch as they aim to finish in a top four position.  Former back row player Brian Renwick has taken over the role of Director of Rugby so that the Head Coach can get on with matters on the field.

In other news, Hawick’s Rory Hutton, who has had a brilliant career in the famous green shirt, has left the club to take up a position alongside another ex Green Scott McLeod, at Watsonians. The 30 year old now lives and works in Edinburgh and he’s looking forward to the new challenge.
