Doddie Weir’s trust benefits from Masters match

Doddie Weir’5 Discretionary Trust Fund benefited by over £3000 on Friday night when The charity team The Crusaders took on a Melrose Vets team at Murrayfield Wanderers’ plastic pitch in Edinburgh. Melrose legends from the past including John Dalziel, Scott Wight, Graeme Dodds, Scott Johnson, Rob Chrystie and Tom Weir all turned out for the Melrose team.  The next big game for the Trust will take place on Tuesday 7th November at Bridgehaugh when Caledonia Reds host The South of Scotland.

Meanwhile John Dalziel has selected his first ever Scotland 7s squad, and three Melrose players and one from Gala have been included. Scotland will be taking part in the Assupol International 7s event at Stellenbosh, South Africa on October 28th and will face Kenya, England Academies and South Africa at the event. Melrose’s Nyle Godsmark, Sam Pecqueur and Ross McCann will be pulling on the blue jersey along with Gala’s Gregor Hunter. Meet the three Melrose players selected here.
