Melrose dream of being Scottish Champions evaporate into thin Ayr

What a difference seven days can make. Last weekend Melrose beat Ayr on their home patch 20-13 to take their place in the Cup Final at Murrayfield, but today everything that could go wrong for Melrose did, as they slumped to a 48-10 defeat to the men from Millbrae in the Premiership Semi Final. Ruairidh Knott scored the only try for the Black and Yellows as they conceded five to their opponents. Frazier Climo scored 28 of Ayr’s points in a fine solo display. Watch highlights here.

Gala finally know who their opponents will be in the match on April 23rd in (probably) Edinburgh. Marr beat Stewart’s Melville 55-36 in a 91 point thriller at Inverleith to claim their place in the one-off game in which the winning team will play in the Premiership next season.  Dundee finished third after demolishing Jedforest 50-21 with a fine display in the last half hour.  In East League 1 Duns shocked North Berwick 25-12 and that result has put St Boswells in pole position to win the league and gain promotion into the National Leagues.
