Home > Video Bulletins > Melrose in a class of their own as McCann’s 4 tries help slam Currie
Five games played and five bonus points for Melrose, and on Saturday they overcame Currie 41-10 after a closely fought first half. Ross McCann collected four tries to add to touchdowns from Neil Irvine-Hess, Fraser Thomson and Richard Ferguson. They are now eight points clear at the top. Hawick bounced back from their 70-7 defeat at Goldenacre last week to get a losing bonus point at Glasgow Hawks. They finished on the wrong end of a 26-19 result. It was a better performance from the Greens but that result drops them to the basement in the BT Premiership table with just four points and still no win.
In the eagerly-anticipated derby at Netherdale in NL1, Gala kept their unbeaten record intact with a 16-5 win over previously unbeaten Selkirk. There were only two tries in the game, one for John Turnbull and one for Selkirk’s Scott Hendrie, with the boot of Gregor Hunter and a strong pack and defence helping the Maroons to the victory which puts them up to second, while the Souters drop to third. Jedforest won at Cartha Queens Park 34-27 while Kelso collected a bonus-point win at Falkirk 54-21. You can watch highlights of the Kelso match here while the ITV roundup report is here.
In National 2 Peebles missed out on a much-needed win at Howe of Fife, going down 20-26 at Howe of Fife, but St Boswells’ long trek by private jet to Orkney resulted in a 31-10 win.
In the East Leagues there were wins for Hawick Harlequins and Duns in Division 1, and Gala YM, Earlston and Hawick Linden in EL2, while Langholm blew a lead to lose their unbeaten record at Ross High.
