Melrose march on but Hawick still winless – Gala lose unbeaten record



Melrose’s incredible domination of the BT Premiership continued yesterday with a 66-10 win over Marr at The Greenyards. Nine tries were scored with four players each getting a brace – Sam Pecqueur, Jason Baggott, Gavin Wood and Nyle Godsmark, with Ruairidh Knott getting the other. That’s seven bonus point wins out of seven for the Black and Yellows.  Hawick continue to struggle though at the other end of the table. They stay bottom with no wins and only 4 bonus points following another crushing defeat, 60-18 at Boroughmuir, who are just one place above them in the table.

In National 1 Gala lost their unbeaten record to Edinburgh Accies in a close game at Netherdale. The unbeaten City side edged the game 16-13 to stay top of the table. Watch the ITV report here. Jedforest move into second spot following their 41-33 win at Aberdeen while Selkirk drop below Gala into fourth place despite beating Kelso with a last minute Steve Hamilton try 24-19 in the game which doubled as a Border League match.

In National 2 Peebles’ home game against Aberdeenshire was postponed while in the league below St Boswells went down at Murrayfield Wanderers 36-25.

In East League 1 all Borders sides posted victories – Berwick, Duns and Hawick Quins – while in Division 2 Earlston, Langholm and Gala YM won with Hawick Linden the only local side to taste defeat.
