Hawick cruise to victory at Peebles

Hawick made it 2 out of 2 in the Booker Border League Pool B with a comprehensive victory at The Gytes against National 2 club Peebles, winning by 58-5. Peebles, two divisions lower than The Greens, played for the whole 80 minutes and were rewarded with a late score by former Biggar man Donald Voas, but the damage had been done early on in the game with Hawick racing to a four-try bonus point just after the first quarter. Bruce McNeil, Fraser Renwick and Darren Robson all crossed for a brace while the other four tries for the Greens went to Lewis Ferguson, Ruaridh MacLeod, Dalton Redpath and Ross Combe, who looked very sharp returning from his six-game suspension. That result means Hawick and Jedforest are unbeaten in their two matches and will meet in February for a shoot-out when the winner of that Riverside Park clash will contest the final against the winners of Pool A (either Melrose, Selkirk or Kelso) at Langholm.
