Hawick came from behind to grab a Bonus Point victory against Boroughmuir at Mansfield Park and do themselves a big favour in their bid to avoid a relegation play-off against probably Jedforest or Edinburgh Accies. They won 27-20 with tries from Fraser Renwick, Bruce McNeil and a couple of Penalty Tries. Hawick, who lost their first 10 games and were rock bottom of the BT Premiership have now clawed themselves off the bottom and into eighth place, seven points ahead of Boroughmuir who have a game in hand. If they do survive in the top flight of Scottish Club Rugby it will be an almighty effort, but with matches away at Watsonians and Ayr and a home game against table-toppers Melrose, there is still work to do. Watch ITV Report here. Melrose’s match at Marr was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Jedforest comfortably won their BT NL1 match at Musselburgh 55-26 with a try bonus point to keep up the pressure on unbeaten Edinburgh Accies (who won 96-7 at bottom club Falkirk) and are now 22 points clear of Gala who leapfrog Selkirk into third spot after they beat Kelso 14-10 at home, and Selkirk lost at Cartha Queens Park 21-25. More Borders success came in Division 2 with a good away win for Peebles at West of Scotland 36-12 and in the third division, where St Boswells posted a 35-19 victory at Haddington.
In the Borders Shield Semi Final ties Berwick overcame Gala YM 73-0 at Netherdale while Hawick Harlequins were too strong on the day for Langholm, winning 34-5. The East Bowl Final saw Walkerburn lose at home to Queensferry 7-41 while in East League 2 Earlston beat Liberton 43-0 at The Haugh.
