Jedforest win Borders Team of the Season award

Jedforest beat Howe of Fife 33-24 at Riverside Park in their last National 1 game and in doing so won the Borders Team of the Season award for the second time in three years. The Borders Rugby Rankings exist to give every team at every level a chance of winning the trophy based on the number of match points scored divided by the number of games played. This gives an average points total per game and as all teams are handicapped by playing at their own level, it levels the playing field. In the eight years of the Rankings six of our eight top-ranked teams have won the trophy from Hawick YM through to Melrose. Jed’s second win means they are the second Borders team to win the trophy twice. Melrose are the other club to achieve it, and would have made it three if Jed had failed to get a match point tonight.
