Jedforest within a whisker of BT Cup glory but Selkirk dumped out by NL3’s GHK

The match between Hawick and Melrose in the BT Cup was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch so the focus turned to Jedforest v Heriot’s at Riverside Park, and with three tries apiece it was a cracking match. Fraser Harkness and Gregor Young (2) scored for the Royal Blues who were in front 19-12 in the closing stages of the game, but a penalty and a try sealed the win for the Nails 19-20. The shock of the day saw Selkirk from the Premiership lose 21-7 away at National 3 team GHK, who remain unbeaten this season. Angus Duckett scored the only Souters try.  Peebles lost in National 1 at Stewart’s Melville 31-6 while St Boswells made it 55 wins out of 55 in defeating the unbeaten North Berwick 17-15 in a close match at Jenny Moores Ground.  There were also local wins for Duns, Hawick Harlequins, Langholm, Earlston, Gala YM and Walkerburn in the East League and Bowl competitions.
