Melrose’s D.O.R. Mike Dalgetty breaks silence on Super Six Rugby

Melrose Director Of Rugby Mike Dalgetty has spoken for the first time publicly about Scottish Rugby’s plans to introduce Semi Pro Rugby in the form of a Super Six Competition from season 2019-20 – something which will represent the biggest change in club rugby in Scotland ever. Amateur rugby below that level will be compulsory and the Melrose stalwart said, in an exclusive interview with Borders Rugby TV, that the change is likely to affect clubs in different ways. He said that there is still a lot of dialogue to have between Melrose and the SRU about the format of the competition and the finer points of what is being proposed before his club makes the decision to bid for one of the six franchises (at least one of them to be located in the Borders.)

Mike also talks about the impact amateur rugby would have on clubs and updates us on the plans for Melrose’s 1883 Legacy Project, which aims to bring a 3G pitch and floodlights to The Greenyards followed by a new stadium at a later date.  Watch the interview here.
