Mighty effort to get game on pays dividends for Jedforest

Over 40 people turned out to clear snow off the pitch at Riverside Park to enable Jedforest’s National 1 match against Cartha Queens Park to go ahead. It was the only match involving a Borders side to be given the all clear and helped to avoid fixture congestion in an already crowded season for the Royal Blues, who were forced to play five league games at the end of last season in April and May when they should have been concentrating on 7s. They beat Cartha 36-13 with six tries including a brace from captain Gregor Young (pictured) and one each from Ewan Scott, Clark Skeldon, Robbie Shirra-Gibb (his 18th of the season) and Andrew Sanders.  That bonus point win keeps the Borders club in second place behind Edinburgh Accies, who also won today.
