Selkirk relegated but Melrose go second – Jedforest make it 8 out of 9

Selkirk have been relegated from the BT Premiership after losing at home to Glasgow Hawks this afternoon 15-33. Despite two tries from Ross Nixon and Josh Welsh the Souters were overpowered by Hawks in the first half in the face of a fierce wind. Hawks struck the killer blow just after the break, and despite fighting to the end, there would be no Houdini act for Selkirk.  Melrose won 18-14 at Heriot’s to go second but Gala fell short at Stirling County, who leap-frogged them back into seventh.  Hawick’s game against Boroughmuir was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In NL1 Jedforest went in front late into stoppage time against Edinburgh Accies for the first time in the game, and that proved crucial as they held out for a few more seconds to win their eighth match in nine outings, scoring 3 tries to 1 in a 17-14 victory. Kelso and Peebles both stay in the bottom two places after defeats on the road at Marr and Dundee respectively.
